Today's
Wednesday WindDown, April 30, 2008, was not for me. I do not know if this was typical or not. I went late (about 6:30pm) and when I got there the crowd was beyond capacity. They were still letting people into the amphitheater area, but it was standing room only. It was so crowded that it no longer felt like listening to music in the park. It was more like a club, far from a winddown. There were security barriers around the amphitheater area and security guards checking bags. I am not sure if they were trying to keep people out of the area who did not belong or if they were trying to contain area so that it did not spread throughout the park. Today
Ken Ford was performing so the music was good and the crowd was large. Most of the people there seem to be having a really nice time and there was a good vibe throughout. But... (there's always a but) it was just too crowded and contained for me to enjoy myself. Maybe if I had gotten there early, gotten a good spot, and brought my own seating and refreshments it would have been fine. But... (there's that word again) if I have to do all that then its going to be a Saturday or Sunday endeavor.
If you are looking for good music and a lot of good people having a good time this may be just what you need. If you are looking to winddown I suggest you try some place else.
