Gwen Hughes Quartet at Churchill Grounds

Last night I went to see Gwen Hughes at Churchill Grounds. Not being a big jazz fan I was geared up for a pleasant evening with some nice background music. To my surprise I got much more. Gwen Hughes is a powerful singer and really puts on a show. She actually engages the crowd and the band members. She was accompanied by Mace Hibbard on Sax, a guest saxophonist-Dave Renter, Ramone on bass, Mike on Drums, and Louis on Piano (I didn't catch everyones last name). All of them are very talented and played with all of the enthusiasm of the accompanying vocalist. I had a really good time.
